The learning experiences being designed by us take into account the learning theories, Islamic pedagogy, positive psychology, and spirituality. These learning experiences are designed for deep learning so that acquisition of knowledge can lead to its internalization.
Deep learning scenarios are designed considering the following learning theories:
- Constructivism & Social learning
We believe that the learners construct their knowledge about emaan, Islam and Ihsan through application and experience. A lot of assimilation and accommodation takes place within the schemas constructed and this happens throughout the lifetime of the learner. Vygotsky, Bruner, Piaget, and Bandura are considered for designing of learning experiences.
For development of enduring memories, we use cognitive load theory and retrieval based learning.
- Well-being theory
Positive psychology / PERMA is introduced through language arts class of Urdu and English and the tarbiyah class of Islamic studies.
- Self-determination theory
Our learning experience design takes into account the basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence and relatedness for development of intrinsic motivation. To capitalize on this, teachers will in shaa Allah be trained to manage learner’s basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness.
- Guidance theory
The guidance theory tells us about the kind of effort the learners need to make to get guidance from Allah. Our learning experiences aim is to motivate the learners to make effort that enables guidance from Allah.
